Since Steady has all of your team's written check-ins combined with activity data from integrations, there's a wealth of knowledge in one place that makes preparing for team-wide retros and individual 1:1s or reviews fast and easy.

1:1s

User profiles contain all of the information you need to quickly understand what a person has been focused on lately.

Just click on the person's name in Steady to view their profile. You'll see their recent check-ins and activity, as well as any goal updates. No more digging around through wikis, tickets, and Slack channels to understand the full picture.

To quickly navigate to a profile, press / and enter the person's name to jump directly there.

Reviews

The bi-annual/annual review cycles at most companies are extremely time-consuming for both managers and team members. To get a complete picture of someone's impact you have to piece together data from emails, calendars, ticket tracking tools, and git repositories.

But with all of the information centralized in Steady, you have all of the data you need in one place.

Use the Insights page to analyze check-ins and integration activity over longer stretches of time. Update the date range for the period and select a person from the "Team members" filter.

You can export that data to a CSV at the top of the Insights page for further analysis using your favorite spreadsheet tool.

Retros

Steady's Insights page surfaces the key data points and trends you need to run an effective retro. See trends related to participation, goal completion, blockers, integration activity, vacations, and more. You can even see how your team's mood has trended.

Surfacing these insights will help you figure out the most important question - how are we doing, and are we getting better?

While viewing the Insights page, use the filter options to view check-ins from your most recent sprint/cycle. We recommend filtering to see the blocked check-ins so you can have a team discussion about what is slowing you down. You can also filter on specific tags.

Use the "Team members" filter to select specific team members to review. For instance, half of your team may be working on a specific project. Multi-select allows you to view just the team members involved in the project so you can have a project-specific retro.

Key areas that we recommend you focus on:

  • Participation - if your team's participation rate is dropping, it may indicate they're burning out or lacking motivation. We recommend discussing workload and satisfaction with your team.
  • Mood - a mood score trending down can be an early warning sign that a problem is brewing. Introverted team members may be unlikely to speak up directly but will often display other, more subtle signs. Mood is one of them.
  • Blockers - A high number or significant increase in blockers can indicate that your team is struggling.
  • Integration activity - Integration activity can show you how active your team has been vs. previous periods. Do you see MRs and issues being completed at the same rate? A significant shift in either direction is something to discuss together.
